Pre-Oscar post...

I got home from work and was happy to discover the Independent Spirit Awards on AMC. I watched it last year and quite enjoyed it. It always airs the day before the Academy Awards. I enjoy it because there are no pretenses, drama, or tuxes. It's a a casual affair (jeans) and swearing is abundant from both presenters and recipients. And how can you go wrong with Sarah Silverman as host? She's lovely, beautiful, and has the mouth of a filthy trucker. And where else will you find Rosie Perez and Henry Rollins as co-presenters?

In more movie news here are my Oscar picks for the Oscar pool that I'm in...

The Sex Pistols refuse to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. At least that's punk!

Totally DISAGREE with Ocean's Twelve. I loved it!

Corpse Bride should have won Best Full-Length Animation. I saw them both (that Howln' Castle crap wasn't even in the running) and I love W&G, but Corpse Bride was simply better.

And what is more punk than not appearing at the Hall of Fame induction? Pretty much nothing.
